Springvale Terminal Station

Demolition of concrete blade walls, an 8-metre blast wall and associated transformer enclosure structures.

Demolition of concrete blast walls at Springvale Terminal SVTS using excavators and demolition attachments.

Rafferty the Wrecker undertook demolition works at the Springvale Terminal SVTS site, involving the removal of four concrete blade wall structures and an 8-metre-high concrete blast wall. The blast wall was demolished from the top down using a large excavator fitted with a hammer and pulveriser, with removal continuing to 300 mm below the existing ground slab level.

A 5-tonne excavator was used to remove the remaining ground-level wall sections, with reinforcing bars trimmed by hand. The works also included demolition of the transformer enclosure’s associated structures, including the transformer pad and slab elements, brick plinth walls, pits, bund wall and drains.
