Hotel Lindrum, 26 Flinders Street, Melbourne
Structural demolition at Hotel Lindrum, retaining the heritage-listed front façade throughout the works.

Rafferty the Wrecker undertook the demolition of a five-level hotel building at Hotel Lindrum, Melbourne, while retaining the heritage-listed front section of the façade and external walls. The building comprised original early-1900s masonry construction at the front and a later concrete and steel structure at the rear.
Works required a controlled demolition methodology, including the use of small plant and machinery in selected areas, to protect the retained heritage structure, neighbouring buildings and the public. Scaffolding and a carefully sequenced approach supported demolition within the constrained urban site, with most of the basement structure also retained.
